Page builder not working

In case the page builder isn’t working on your website, here’s a few possible causes.

1) Outdated theme version#

We’re fast on solving issues and bugs! Try staying up to date with the latest theme version. Not sure if you’re running the latest version? Check the changelog here. Compare it with your version eg: http://hogash.d.pr/1lpZl .

2) Conflicts with other plugins#

For a quick check to see if another plugin is causing the Page builder to crash, try to disable all plugins. If the Page builder will work, it means the problem was coming from another plugin, and to find out which one, activate them back and then disable them one by one until you find the one.

2.1) Disable caching plugins

Caching is recommended in production so in development try disabling caching plugins eg: WP Super Cache, W3 Total Cache, WP Fastest Cache etc. They’re not always creating problems but sometimes.

3) JavaScript Errors in console#

When the page builder usually doesn’t work, most likely there’s an error in the console. To debug and see if there’s an error, right click anywhere on the site on the website to open the contextual  menu, and click on Inspect Element. Open the Console tab and see if there’s any errors inside it.

4) Improperly used Custom JavaScript#

There are a few ways to add your own custom JavaScript to a page or the entire website (eg: Advanced options > Custom JS, Custom HTML element, etc.). Please make sure the JS is added properly.

To check whether there are JS errors, here’s a very well made article on WordPress’s Codex or watch a video explainer here,  explaining how to debug with your favorite browser’s developer console.

5) Other possible reasons:#

WordFence Plugin (known plugin to cause conflicts)

If you happen to have WordFence plugin, do always use it, but be sure to whitelist your IP. Here’s more on this topic.

W3 Total Cache (known plugin to cause conflicts)

It seems this plugin is somehow forbidding access the admin-ajax.php thus causing the page builder not to save the page. So far there’s no easy fix, just plain deactivate and use WP Super Cache plugin (great plugin actually, maintained by WordPress developers).
